DNA Engine Alpha Units

The key component to the DNA Engine family of products is the Alpha™ unit sample blocks. Only MJ Research offers the dual block format, with two independently controlled blocks in a single Alpha bay.

Made with MJ-built peltier heat pumps, Alpha units are available in a variety of formats--accommodating standard tubes and plates, high-density microtiter plates, and even microscope slides or microarrays.

Single block Alpha units feature multi-zone thermal control for optimal temperature uniformity across the sample block.

Dual block Alpha units feature independent temperature control, regardless of chassis type, and have separate heated lids.

Moto Alpha units are single block Alphas with integrated motorized lids for robotic access to the cycler block.

The Remote Alpha Dock system allows convenient configuration of Alpha units - Ideal for robotic workstations.

Interchangeable blocks swap out in seconds
Every DNA Engine line chassis (the DNA Engine, Dyad, Disciple, and Tetrad cyclers) accept all interchangeable Alpha™ units. Changing an Alpha unit takes less than ten seconds— with no tools required. The temperature accuracy specifications of Alpha blocks ensure consistent results experiment-to-experiment and cycler-to-cycler.

Pioneers of Peltier technology
MJ Research was the first to commercialize peltier-based thermal cyclers-- and the first to introduce mulit-zone feedback control—the technologies have become the standard for high performance thermal cyclers today. By using multiple sensors (single blocks only) to rapidily modulate temperature zones on a sample block, optimal sample-to-sample consistency is achieved. MJ manufactures its own peltier heat-pumps which are cycle-tested to last longer than any other commercially available module.
